The distillery was licensed to produce whisky in 1946, soon after the war, and continued to produce whisky until around 1980. It was called “Cherry of the North, Toa of the East, and Mars of the West,” and along with Toa Shuzo and Hombo Shuzo, Sasanokawa Shuzo’s “cherry whisky” gained popularity, but the distilling of the original whisky was not a problem. distilling of the original whisky was stopped due to the stagnant domestic market.

 

Due to low growth and changing tastes, Toa was forced to withdraw from the business in 2003, and Sasanokawa took custody of the barrels of undiluted whisky at the distillery in Hanyu This was a big help in releasing Ichiro’s Malt, which later became popular worldwide.
