Now, for our seventh installment, we would like to introduce “Single Malt Japanese Whisky Shizuoka Pot Still K Pure Japanese Barley First Edition” from “Gaiaflow Shizuoka Distillery”, located in the Tamagawa district of the Okushizu area of Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture, on the banks of the Abenakagochi River, a tributary of the Abe River, a first class river.

President Nakamura, who was the third president of a precision parts manufacturing company, was looking for a new business that would allow him to break away from price-competitive subcontracting work, and when he visited a small distillery in Scotland, he thought he could make whisky himself and decided to establish a distillery The distillery started operation in 2016.

Shizuoka Distillery operates two first distillation units called “K” and “W”.

The “K” is a historic Karuizawa distiller that was manufactured in Japan in the 1950s, and in November 2011, it was moved from the Karuizawa distillery, which regrettably closed, to the Shizuoka distillery, where it was repaired and refurbished, and the legendary distiller was restored. The distiller’s graceful silhouette and the indirect heating of steam produce a light and floral-flavored sake.

This is probably the only “wood-fired distiller” in the world, made by Forsyths of Scotland, and this distiller is the “W” The temperature for general indirect heating distillation is around 150°C, but the wood-fired distillation at Shizuoka Distillery is 800°C, which can produce a fragrant and powerful type of malt base liquor.

Shizuoka Distillery continues to produce a wide variety of malt liquors by using two distinctive distillers, the “K” and the “W” distillers. This video will take a look at the location and environment of the distillery, as well as new releases and other information about the Shizuoka Distillery.
