Akkeshi-Cho, will once again have a booth at the “Azabu-Juban Summer Festival 2026,” which will be held on Saturday, August 22, and Sunday, August 23.
Featuring the Hokkaido-exclusive “Kaki no Komoriuta” highball—available only at restaurants in Akkeshi -Cho and at Kushiro Airport—

steamed oysters, among other items.
It is one of Tokyo’s premier events, typically drawing as many as 300,000 visitors each year and featuring rows of food stalls from the shopping district and nearby restaurants.
This year, Akkeshi -Cho’s booth is located in the “Our Region’s Pride” area, which features a full lineup of regional specialties from across the country—all must-try items.
1. What is “Kaki no Komoriuta”?
This whisky is normally only available at restaurants in Akkeshi -Cho. It’s safe to say you’d never be able to drink it in Tokyo.
Kenten Jitsugyo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Keiichi Hida) is pleased to announce the release of “Akkeshi Blended Whisky Kaki no Komoriuta 2025” from the Akkeshi Distillery.The name “Kaki no Komoriuta” was chosen by the company’s President, Keiichi Toita, based on the idea that “Akkeshi’s oysters and whisky mature to the same sound of the waves, which serves as their lullaby.”This product will not be sold by the bottle; instead, it will be served exclusively at restaurants in Akkeshi-Cho starting around late January 2025.Furthermore, following the previous “Kaki no Komoriuta” released in 2021, the label for this new edition was once again designed by Khana Harada, a ballpoint pen artist based in Kushiro City.
Rain falling on the Mizunara oak forests of Akkeshi thoroughly moistens the peatlands that stretch far and wide.
This water, rich in nutrients, flows into Lake Akkeshi and Akkeshi Bay, slowly nurturing the oysters.
And our Akkeshi Malt, too, continues to mature to the lullaby of the waves of Akkeshi Bay.
About 9,000 kilometers west of Akkeshi -Cho lies the Scottish island of Islay, known for its oysters and as a sacred place where the finest whiskys are crafted.

Since it was organized by the Town Hall office, no one from the distillery was present, but it was a rare opportunity to enjoy Akkeshi oysters paired with an “Kaki no Komoriuta” highball. Last year, they also served it neat or on the rocks.
