The Chichibu distillery of Ichiro’s Malt has sent us information about their new product release.

Chichibu Distillery Single Malt Whisky Vol. 16 [highlight color=”red”] “Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu The Peated 2022”[/highlight].

As for the “Chichibu The Peated” series, it will be the Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu The Peated 2018. The Chichibu distillery is dedicated to making peated malt.

The number of bottles bottled this time is 11,000. If you take into account the quantity of bottles that will be exported overseas, you can be sure that this will be a very rare bottle.

1. Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu The Peated 2022

The 2022 version of the Chichibu The Peated is the first in four years, and is described as “sweet and light custard cream, with fruity notes that glide across the surface. The aroma on the palate is reminiscent of soft black tea, and the overall impression will continue to change over time.” As the tasting comment from the Chichibu distillery says, not only does it have a unique smoky flavor, but it also has a custard-like sweetness and fruity flavor that will continue to change over time.

This product is a peated single malt whisky made at the Chichibu distillery. Peat is used in the malting process to dry the malt, resulting in a raw spirit with a strong smoky character. It has a sweet, light custard cream, and a fruity quality that glides across the surface. The aroma on the palate is reminiscent of soft black tea, and the overall impression will continue to change with time.
It is bottled in a non-chill filtered, natural color to allow you to enjoy the character of the original.

2. In-house malting (floor malting)

The Chichibu Distillery uses the traditional Scotch whisky malting method of “floor malting” and malts its own barley. The malted barley is then dried using peat, which gives it its distinctive smoky flavor.

The Chichibu The Peated 2022 is also supposed to be made with peated malt from their own malt. By not only importing peated malt, but also making our own peated malt, we are able to create a variety of old-fashioned malts and other unique malts.

It has a heavy peaty aroma with a sweetness and acidity like a banana before it is fully ripe. The smoky and fruity flavors are well-balanced, and the addition of water softens the aftertaste. Bottled at 11,550 bottles.

3-2. Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu The Peated 2016

This is an original distilled in 2012. It has a smoky, yet well-balanced aroma with a glossy fruity aftertaste. Bottled 6,350 bottles.

3-3. Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu The Peated 2015

The 9th Chichibu distillery single malt whisky, Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu The Peated 2015 is a peated single malt whisky made at the Chichibu distillery. It is non-chill filtered, naturally colored, and bottled at cask strength to allow you to enjoy the character of the original. Bottled at 5980bottles.

3-4. Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu The Peated 2013

Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu The Peated 2013 is the sixth Chichibu distillery single malt whisky bottled in a limited edition of 6700 bottles.

It is a single malt whisky using only peated type raw material distilled in 2010 at the Venture whisky Chichibu Distillery, and the malt phenolic value is 59.6ppm as stated on the label, the highest peat level.

The blend is balanced with carefully selected barrels from bourbon, refill hogshead, puncheon and pipe casks. It has an impressive smokiness reminiscent of smoked bacon, and a distinctive taste with a premium quality.

Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka Whisky, devoted his life to brewing whisky in Japan. This is a revised and reprinted version of the autobiography of a man who simply loved whisky and talked about himself. The book vividly depicts the days when he went to Scotland alone to study as a young man and overcame many hardships to complete Japanese whisky, as well as his companion, Rita.

(4). A Letter of Challenge from a New Generation Distillery

Launching in 2019. With the world experiencing an unprecedented whisky boom, what were the managers of craft distilleries thinking and what were their thoughts as they took on the challenge of making whisky? This book tells the stories of 13 craft distillery owners, including Ichiro Hido of Venture Whisky, famous for his Ichirose Malt, who inspired the birth of craft distilleries in Japan.

(5). Whiskey Rising

This is the Japanese version of Whisky Risng, published in the US in 2016, with much updated content. Not only does it describe the history of Japanese whisky in detail, but it also includes data on all the distilleries in Japan, including the craft distilleries that have been founded in recent years. The book also includes descriptions of the legendary bottles that have been released, as well as information on bars where Japanese whisky can be found.
